Intended purpose of use: used to collect whole blood from a donor and to be used later for transfusions after testing.

Product description:
Single blood bag with CPDA-1 anticoagulant, tubing and a needle to be used for blood collection, testing and storage (transfusions). It includes an integrated diversion pouch.
Sterile.
Non-toxic and non-pyrogenic.
Shelf life of unused bag: minimum 2 years.
Shelf life of bag with blood: approx. 35 days.

Bag:
Capacity 450ml.
Material: medical grade PVC (preferably DEHP free).
An integrated diversion pouch to collect first 30ml of blood, to prevent bacterial infections.
Bag is transparent, almost colourless to allow inspection of the product.
With anti-coagulant CPDA-1.
Anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Dextrose Adenine solution (CPDA-1) complies with the current PhEur of USP monograph.
Volume of CPDA-1 per bag: 63 ml/450 ml.
Bag has tubing (giving line) connected to a needle for blood collection, and two outlets to connect the blood transfusion set (with protective cap).
Blank label for essential data (minimum: bag number, collection date, expiry date, type of product, ABO group + Rh)

Needle:
Material: Stainless steel.
Size: 16G to 20G (approx. 1.0 x 50 mm) - for adults.
Connected to the tubing at the donor's end.
With a protective cap.
Needle guard, mounted on the tubing to prevent accidental needlestick injury.
The quad slides over the soiled needle after use and self-locks.
The design of the needle and needle guard must be capable of being withdrawn from the venepuncture site smoothly, in a single step.
Sterile, single use.

Tubing:
Material: medical grade polymer (preferably DEHP free).
Flexible but kink resistant.
Length: minimum 80 cm.
Fitted with two clamps.

Supplied with:
One unit includes a single blood bag with anticoagulant, tubing and a needle with protective cap, and an integrated diversion pouch.

Primary packaging:
One (1) blood bag packed in an individual sterilised protective packaging.
Secondary packaging:
Ten (10) blood bags are provided in aluminium foil package with airtight wrapping,
of two packs of Five (5) blood bags are provided in aluminium foil package with airtight wrapping.
Foil pack is supplied inside a strong carton box.
Protected against light. Storage instructions to be provided.
Labelling requirement: Device should be labelled in accordance with British Transfusion Services Guidelines. Must meet the requirements of ISO 3826-1 of equivalent.
