To demonstrate and practice the prevention, recognition and management of postpartum haemorrhage including active management of the third stage of labour, controlled cord traction, examination of a complete and partially complete placenta and the management of primary postpartum haemorrage.
Specifications
Colour of the simulator: adult female skin, full term foetus, umbilical cord and placenta.
The simulator can either be attachable or a model with palpable removable cover and moveable parts. Material of the simulator: polyurethane, poly vinyl chloride (free from phthalate plasticizers), silicone rubber, synthetic and natural rubber, other materials as specified by the manufacturer (refer to Conformity and Regulatory requirements included in the bidding documents)
The composition of fabric used specified by the manufacturer.
Texture of the simulator: soft and smooth, friction free to demonstrate the desired procedures.
Realistically sculpted to and anatomically accurate, feeling smooth / resilient / bony as relevant and moveable parts suitable for simulation.
Controllable uterine firmness, from atonic to fully contracted to demonstrate controlled cord traction and fundal massage.
Placenta with membranes to demonstrate full complete, fully and partially retained Bladder for catheterization Articulating foetal/term baby with palpable fontaneles and adaptors to fit with birthing system.
The foetus must resemble and feel like an average sized full term baby with attachable umbilical cord. If possible the umbilical cord can be disassembled and reassembled to demonstrate the cutting/clamping of the cord and early cord management.
Materials and component parts: withstands extremes of temperature (up to 45' Celsius) and humid conditions.
Supplied with
- Detachable palpable padded cover if appropriate to the simulator;
- Attachable uterus with mechanism to control firmness from atonic to fully contracted in postpartum period;
- Fully articulating average sized full term foetus/baby with palpable fontanels, umbilical cord attachment that is also attached to the placenta that can if possible be detached to mimic to demonstrate cord cutting, prior to controlled cord traction;
- Multiple placentas to support normal delivery, retained placenta, partial and incomplete delivery; - Multiple umbilical cords to demonstrate controlled cord traction, cutting the umbilical cord and other possible problems that can be experienced with umbilical cord. Number supplied to be specified by the manufacturer;
- One 48 hour postpartum uterine activity assembly, if appropriate to the model;
- Any other components that support the management of postpartum haemorrhage including tank for fluid to mimic blood;
- Instruction for use;
- A soft/hard carrying case with durability guaranteed under normal use.
